September 2025 Cycle

Continuation full DICOM support¶
As described in our earlier post, we are working towards full DICOM support. This cycle we have worked on the following aspects of this major feature:
🛡️ DICOM De-Identification library¶
This public library is the python implementation of our de-identification profile developed in an earlier cycle. This library will remove or replace data in DICOM-tags that are not required for the correct rendering of the data according to that profile. This defensive approach (remove everything that is not strictly needed) is adopted to provide the maximum protection of potential sensitive data.
Store DICOM in AWS HealthImaging¶
Grand Challenge will use AWS HealthImaging to store DICOM. This cycle we have worked on the required changes in our backend to upload DICOM, apply de-identification client-side and server-side, and save the de-identified data in AWS HealthImaging.
💬 Customisable end-of-reader-study message¶
Once a reader has gone through all the cases of a reader study, they are informed that they have finished the study with a popup. This popup had a standard message "Study finished" . As a study organizer, you might want to thank your readers, or provide additional information such as links to a project page. There is now the possibility to change the default text displayed to your readers at the end of a reader study. To enter the custom message, open the settings page of your reader study where you will find the section "End of study text markdown" which is where you can enter a custom message:
When a reader finishes the reader study, the new, custom message will be displayed instead of the standard "Study finished" message:
🎓 MICCAI tutorial¶
This year, the Grand Challenge team will be represented at MICCAI, where they will host a tutorial. See our previous blogpost for more details on the content and how to sign up. This is a great opportunity to find out what is involved in organizing a challenge on our platform, but also gives you a chance to ask questions or provide feedback in person. We hope to see you there!
