We recently opened JustRAIGS (Justified Referral in AI Glaucoma Screening), a new challenge for IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging 2024 aimed at AI-based screening for glaucoma. This challenge builds upon the success of AIROGS, that we organized in the context of ISBI 2022. This time, we ask participants to not only classify fundus images of eyes as referable glaucoma, but also to identify up to 10 different glaucomatous features in these images. The data set contains more than 110.000 carefully labeled fundus images. Participants can win up to € 3000 in this challenge!

Glaucoma may lead to loss of vision, but at least 50% of people with glaucoma are undiagnosed and are therefore at risk of becoming blind in one or even both eyes. AI-based glaucoma screening may be the key to cost-effective population screening programs that prevent vision loss and blindness.

This challenge is organized by the Rotterdam Eye Hospital and the Rotterdam Ophthalmic Institute in collaboration with the Data Mining and Machine Learning (DM2L) laboratory at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, with involvement of Siamak Yousefi, Hina Raja, Yeganeh Madadi, Hans Lemij and Koen Vermeer.
