Dear organizers,

The license chosen for the FeTA dataset is CC BY-ND on the Zenodo page of the dataset https://zenodo.org/record/4573144#.YMiFjXWYU5m

In section 2 a. 1 b) of the license description, it is specified that users can "produce and reproduce, but not Share, Adapted Material." https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/legalcode

If I understand correctly, this implies that pre-trained deep learning models that were trained using the FeTA data cannot be made publicly available. Can you please confirm that it is indeed the intention? If not, could you confirm wether I am misreading the CC BY-ND clauses or if it would be possible for you to release the data under a more permissive licence?

In addition, in the pdf file FetalBrainTissueAnnotationandSegmentationChallenge_02-11-2021_09-02-26.pdf found at https://zenodo.org/record/4573144#.YMh4j3WYU5m, in page 6, it is written that the license will be CC BY-NC (and not CC BY-ND). CC BY-NC would allow to share pre-trained deep learning models.

Best wishes, Lucas

Dear Lucas, The CC-ND on the Zenodo website refers to the Challenge Design document and not the dataset of the challenge. The actual license for the FeTA dataset is listed on the Synapse website wiki page under 'Terms of Use': https://www.synapse.org/#!Synapse:syn25649159/wiki/610007 It's a custom license that is very close to the CC-NC:" The Fetal Tissue Annotation Challenge Dataset shall be used only for research and education purposes" We definitely want to encourage sharing of models :)
