Are the final competition results based on teams? If a team ranks third and second on the leaderboard, what award will they ultimately receive?

The final leaderboard will be team based. The best performing metric for each team (from their allowed 2 submissions) will be taken for rank ordering. In the case you have mentioned, this team would be second in the leaderboard. Hope this clarifies it.
