EXTENDED DEADLINE

EXTENDED DEADLINE

Dear participants,

As mentioned before, we have been discussing the possbility of extending the deadline of TIGER.

We see that after an initial phase where most teams had issues with getting their algorithm up and running on the TIGER platform, now the number of submissions to L1 is increasing and algorithms are getting better and better. At the same time, we know that several groups are still working on the most challenging (and, in our opinion, the most interesting) part of this challenge, which is the computation of a TILs score, and submissions to L2, for which we are assisting teams to address technical issues. A few submissions have been made, and every week, we invite 5 teams (as agreed initially, given the computing budget available for this challenge) to submit their solution to L2, but we believe that with more time we can witness an increased amount of submissions to L2, when participants will have solved their technical issues and finally unleash the full potential of their algorithms to compute an automatic TILs score! Furthermore, a few weeks ago we had to put submissions on hold for a few days, in order to do an update to the evaluation scripts and take into account for some (unexpected) values that we encountered in the first submissions.

For all these reasons, we feel that granting participants at least one additional month of time would benefit the development of algorithms, and allow more participants to further develop their TILs score and submit to L2.

Therefore, we extend the deadline of TIGER until June 3, 2022; we will update all deadlines throughout this website soon.

We are also planning to organize a second webinar during the first week of May, to have the opportunity to interact with you and to discuss any topics you would like to address. For this, we have created a web form, which you can use to indicate that you would like to attend the webinar, and to indicate what topic(s) you would like to discuss. Our idea is to make it an interactive webinar, rather than giving presentations, where we can discuss technical issues (if any, still) and your ideas/questions about the TIGER challenge.

Web form to submit topics for the webinar: https://forms.gle/ZMEiAueppkzqU2jcA

We wish you good luck with the continuation of your work for this challenge, and we invite you to post any questions or issues in this forum.

Regards, Francesco, on behalf of the TIGER organizers
